The Marriage Preparation Course

The Marriage Preparation Course started at Holy Trinity Brompton in 1985. The aim of the course is to provide engaged couples with the tools to build a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. Over 5 evenings spent together couples learn how to make a marriage work.

You will consider the importance of commitment. You will have the opportunity to recognize your differences and learn the skills necessary for your relationship to develop and to grow. You will learn about listening and expressing feelings, spending time together and resolving conflict. You will discuss how to nurture your friendship, how to make each other feel loved and how to develop your sexual relationship. Finally, couples will recognize the importance of talking about their goals, values and dreams.

Privacy as a couple is always respected. There is no requirement to disclose anything personal to a third party, but couples will be expected to talk to each other in private during the discussion times. The course is based on Christian principles but it is suitable for those with no Christian faith or Church background.

The whole evening will last about 2 hours. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served later in the evening. The video talks by Nicky & Sila Lee will be broken up at intervals with opportunities for you to talk to one another, sometimes with the aid of an exercise in your workbooks.

The Course will be led by Caroline and Ken Milton, at their home address, 25 Church Close, Poringland, NR14 7LB (opposite Chinese Take Away on B1332).

The Marriage Course

How to build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime

The Marriage Course is very practical, giving any married couple the tools to build a strong and healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. It is for any married couple who want to build a strong and lasting relationship

The course, whilst based on Christian principles, is very helpful for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background. Over seven evenings spent together couples talk about important issues that can get swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life.

Privacy as a couple is always respected. There is no group discussion and no requirement to disclose anything about your relationship to anyone else. The video talks by Nicky and Sila Lee are followed by an opportunity to discuss the topics together as a couple.

We would recommend the course, whether you have been married for two years or sixty + years. It is surprising what you can learn about each other, even after many years of marriage.
